2024: A Year of Impact, Inclusion and AI
Growing as persons and as professionals is a constant process and one that we are reminded to consciously acknowledge as we welcome the new year.
AI Popularity
For impact communications and PR specialists the landscape is changing ever rapidly with the proliferation of AI powered tools in all aspects of our work. Ethical dilemmas have already come into place about safeguarding digital democracy, promoting justice, consumer protection, sustainability, and equity. Never mind learning to utilize the array of new technology to keep up with clients’ and market demands.
Inclusivity
What stood out the most from BusinessWire’s recent article “Media Relations Trends and Predictions for 2024” is the emphasis on inclusive news content which is not only an ethical responsibility but also a legal obligation in the EU and UK with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standard providing an important framework for web and mobile accessibility.
Accommodations that are enhancing accessibility such as Alt Text and Image descriptions, closed captions, readable fonts and clear formatting, plain language summaries and customization options have seen an increase in the last five years. Moving forward to 2024 we are likely to see more and better tools through the increased use of AI.
Data-Driven Storytelling
Data-driven storytelling is another trend that will continue to flourish in 2024 with audiences looking out for hard data that backup marketing claims. The key to success is always building a good story with the numbers!
Honesty & Authenticity
It feels a bit confusing to see virtues such as honesty and authenticity listed in various “PR top trends for the new year” articles, but yet there they are. We already know that today’s consumers are alert to false claims and will disengage with your brand if trust is broken. Authenticity is arguably the most valuable metric for a brand’s marketing success. Our mission at Humanitas is to connect your uniqueness with positive impact actions for a better society and healthier planet.
